1878 Liberty Seated Quarter PCGS MS64 (CAC)

CAC approved. Clearly a coin struck from new dies, as it is nearly fully prooflike and fully defined in all areas. The luster, freshness, flash and originality are excellent, and the original toning is lovely too. This MAY be Briggs 3/C in its earliest state, but perhaps not. The second 8 is strongly re-punched and none of the fabric of this great coin fits Briggs' general comment about the date being poorly struck, with even the proofs being sloppily-made.
