1817 N.9 13 Stars Coronet Head Large Cent, PCGS AU53 CAC

Description

CAC approved.  A crisp, early die state, noted in Noyes (2012) as A/B.  The die scratch right of the first 1 in date is clear.  The coin is lovely – very appealing, smooth chocolate with soft but faint luster clinging nearly everywhere.  There are a few, light, scattered marks, the most noticeable of which sits behind Liberty’s eye, but even it is nothing unusual or distracting.  The surfaces are remarkably smooth for the grade.
