1827 O.145 R5 Capped Bust Half Dollar NGC F12

Description

Aside from an ancient scrape just inside S3, this coin rocks! Yes, it is “only” a Fine, but there is actual luster in the protected areas, and there is scrumptious, original golden iridescent toning. Quite honestly, I think the coin is closer to VF20 than it is to F12, and the luster will back me up on that…NGC did not properly appreciate how bluntly the O.144’s and O.145’s were struck. Though in all fairness, we did not pay them to attribute the coin, so I guess they didn’t know what it was.
