Description
Hosmer and Crowther were the Sutlers for the 62nd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Militia in the Civil War, and issued Sutler tokens (they called them Checks) in 4 different denominations: 5c, 10c, 25c, $1 in brass, and $1 in silver plated brass. A rather fancy operation. They were all made by the John Stanton shop in Cincinnati. This piece is in excellent shape, showing just a touch of unevenness to the color, but well within expectations. No issues or distractions. A very interesting, historic, direct connection to the soldier on the Civil War battlefield.
