1865 Three Cent Nickel, NGC MS65 CAC

Description

CAC approved.  A wonderfully fresh and deeply lustrous gem!  The really interesting this about this coin is the “Prime Clash” aspect.  Clashing is not particularly interesting or unusual in this series, in fact, a lack of clashing is much more unusual, and would be truly notable.  But here, these are apparently new dies, and the strike is very crisp and bold as a result.  And, there is one clearly identifiable clash on either side – a full outline of the opposite side’s details.  Not the usual mush produced by the typically seen multiple clashes.  Thus, “Prime Clash”.  Pretty cool, and something I’ve never seen before!
