Description
CAC approved. Many of you know that Morgans aren’t my favorite series…but I love a Morgan like this as much as any coin! A rare date that has survived so magnificently, yet has been handled a little bit. I think it’s unlikely this coin actually circulated – maybe for a day or two, who could ever know for sure – but the signs of handling are truly subtle. The original cartwheel luster is intact. The surfaces are smooth and free of significant marks. If there were no signs of handling, this would likely grade MS63, thus my preferred shorthand grade for a truly superb AU58 like this – AU63. Even the strike very bold, with just trivial weakness over the ear and on the eagle’s breast. This is a coin for the finest Everyman Registry set or simply for those who prefer true originality and exceptional quality. The last 58CAC sale at public auction I can find was August 2021. The PCGS True View is slightly less than true…our pics are much more so.
