1899-S Morgan Dollar, CACG AU55

Description

CAC Grading.  From a large, very old hoard we’ve been buying.  Not all the coins are of this exceptional quality, but most are very nice and original, likely pulled from circulation several generations ago.  They are just seeing the light of day, and that makes us very happy indeed.  This coin is essentially perfect for the grade.  I would say perfect without hesitation, but there is an old, light scratch – completely toned over and very minor, but it’s there – between S1 and 2, vertically into the left field.  It is visible in the pic better than in hand, but we don’t want any surprises.  Otherwise, the coin is a perfect Choice AU.  Dusty, completely original, softly lustrous, well-struck, impeccably preserved, simply left alone.  A coin of great beauty, and to me, the minor scratch is a badge of honor.
